Jay County defeated Connersville in 4 during the semi final round of sectionals Saturday morning 23-25; 25-19; 25-21; 25-15. Lani Muhlenkamp led the Patriots behind the service line with 12 points and 3 aces. She also had 7 digs. Kayla Jetmore added 11 points, 2 aces, and 3 digs. Paisley Fugiett had 9 points and 3 aces and Brenna Bailey and Carley Trinidad both added 6. Bailey had a team high of 23 digs. Elizabeth Barnett added 17 digs and also contributed 4 kills. Maria Hemmelgarn had a team high of 10 kills. She also had a total of 4 blocks. Mya Kunkler added a total of 6 blocks and 9 kills. Hallie Schwieterman also notched 9 kills and Brenna Schmiesing had 8. Fugiett also had 14 digs and 36 assists. Carley Trinidad and Schwieterman both added 9 digs a piece. They came up short in the championship against New Castle 19-25; 16-25; 25-20; 13-25. Elizabeth Barnett had a team high of 10 points. Paisley Fugiett added 6 points and Kayla Jetmore and Lani Muhlenkamp both added 4. Hallie Schwieterman and Maria Hemmelgarn led the Patriots offensively with 9 kills a piece. Barnett added 6 and Brenna Schmiesing had 5. Hemmelgarn also totaled 3 blocks. Brenna Bailey had a team high of 22 digs. Jetmore and Fugiett both added 15 and Barnett had 12. The Patriots end their season 15-13. They were sectional runners up, 4-2 in the conference making them 3rd, 5th at the conference tourney, and 2nd at the Union County Invite.
