Jay County Patriots Varsity weathered a scare by Centerville in the third inning where Jay County Patriots Varsity coughed up four runs, but Jay County Patriots Varsity still won 14-5 on Saturday. Centerville’s big inning was driven by an error on a ball put in play by Robertson and Westover and by Hale.

Jay County Patriots Varsity took an early lead in the second inning. Mike Stevens grounded out, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the third inning, Centerville tied things up at five when an error scored one run for Centerville.

Jay County Patriots Varsity took the lead for good with six runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Michael Schlechty singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run, Isaac Moeller doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run, Daniel Fugiett doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, Quinn Faulkner singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, and Stevens singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

Moeller was credited with the victory for Jay County Patriots Varsity. He went five innings, allowing five runs on four hits and striking out two. Brayden Mock threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Schlotterbeek took the loss for Centerville. He lasted three innings, allowing nine hits and seven runs while striking out one.

Jay County Patriots Varsity saw the ball well today, racking up 15 hits in the game. Moeller, Faulkner, Ryan Schlechty, and Gabe Faulkner all collected multiple hits for Jay County Patriots Varsity. Moeller led Jay County Patriots Varsity with four hits in five at bats. Noah Arbuckle led Jay County Patriots Varsity with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 14 stolen bases.

Schlotterbeek went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Centerville in hits.
