Jay County Patriots Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 8-4 loss to Yorktown on Monday. Yorktown scored on a grand slam by Parker Stinson, a single by Josh Stevenson, and a single by Jackson Taylor in the first inning.
Yorktown fired up the offense in the first inning, when Stinson homered on a 3-2 count, scoring four runs.
Will Butts was credited with the victory for Yorktown. He went four and a third innings, allowing four runs on eight hits. Sam King and Jacob Pruitt entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Brayden Mock took the loss for Jay County Patriots Varsity. He allowed four hits and six runs over one inning.
Jay County Patriots Varsity launched one home run on the day. Noah Arbuckle had a four bagger in the fourth inning.
Cameron Henry led Jay County Patriots Varsity with two hits in three at bats. Jay County Patriots Varsity was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Gabe Faulkner made the most plays with six.
