The gymnastics invitational on January 20th at Northwestern High School featured 51 gymnasts from 9 schools.
Jay County started the day on floor where Karlie Bullard placed 4th with a score of 8.525 Kenzie Ring placed 5th scoring 8.4 and Rachel Louck placed 6th with a score of 8.175. Jay County’s second rotation was on the vault. Kenzie Ring placed 3rd in the uneven bars with a score of 8.525.
The Patriots knew they would have to perform nearly flawlessly in their last rotation, the balance beam, to have a chance to finish in the top two. Fighting injuries, nerves and the pressure of staying on a 4-inch wide balance beam, the Patriots did just that. Riley Leavell started the Patriot charge scoring an 8.1 on her no-fall beam routine. Kenzie Ring followed with a score of 7.875. Karlie Bullard posted a score of 8.525 with her own no-fall routine to finish the Patriot attack.
The Patriots finished the team competition in second place with a score of 98, The host team, Northwestern, finished 1st with a score of 101.1. Noblesville was third with 97.825, Logansport came in fourth with a score of 97.7. Marion gymnasts finished 5th with a score of 82.625 and Western rounded out the team competition with a score of 79.275. Bullard finished 4th in the All-Around with a score of 33.425 while Ring was 5th scoring 33.175.
