Jay County Patriots Varsity defeated Heritage 13-9 on Thursday thanks in part to Michael Schlechty, who drove in six runners. Schlechty drove in runs on a double in the first and a triple in the fourth.

Heritage scored five runs in the fourth inning, but Jay County Patriots Varsity still managed to pull out the victory. Chase Luginball, Preston Deakins, Jarrett Keiss, and Joel Deakins each had RBIs in the frame.

Jay County Patriots Varsity got things moving in the first inning, when Schlechty doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.

Wyatt Geesaman earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Jay County Patriots Varsity. He surrendered five runs on two hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out five. Isaac Moeller and Gaven Hare entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Moeller recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Jay County Patriots Varsity.

Evan Whitman took the loss for Heritage. He allowed nine hits and seven runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out two.

Jay County Patriots Varsity totaled 12 hits. Noah Arbuckle, Schlechty, and Payton Heniser each managed multiple hits for Jay County Patriots Varsity. Arbuckle went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Jay County Patriots Varsity in hits.

Heritage collected six hits on the day. Bobby Lomow and Deakins all managed multiple hits for Heritage.
