Payton Heniser would not be denied at the plate when runners were on base on Monday, driving in four on two hits to lead Jay County Patriots Varsity past Heritage 15-8 on Monday. Heniser drove in runs on a home run in the second and a home run in the fifth.
There was plenty of action on the basepaths as Jay County Patriots Varsity collected 15 hits and Heritage had 11.
Jay County Patriots Varsity opened up scoring in the second inning, when Noah Arbuckle homered on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.
Heritage scored three runs in the fifth inning. Heritage batters contributing to the big inning included Joel Deakins and Jarrett Keiss, who all drove in runs.
Arbuckle was the winning pitcher for Jay County Patriots Varsity. He allowed eight hits and six runs over four innings, striking out one. Ryan Schlechty and Isaac Moeller entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Evan Whitman took the loss for Heritage. He allowed four hits and five runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking one.
Jay County Patriots Varsity launched six home runs on the day. Cole Stigleman had a homer in the second and sixth innings. Ethan Myers went deep in the fourth inning. Heniser had a four bagger in the second and fifth innings. Arbuckle put one out in the second inning.
