Varsity vs Cowan High School (23 - 4) Win Varsity vs Madison-Grant High School (12 - 10) Win Varsity vs Cowan High School Varsity vs Madison-Grant High School Jay County Patriots Beat Cowan Varsity Blackhawks On Powerful Performance From Jaelynn Lykins By GameChanger Media Jaelynn Lykins hit two home runs and drove in eight as Jay County Patriots defeated Cowan Varsity Blackhawks 23-4 on Saturday. Lykins homered in the fifth and fourth innings. Jay County Patriots got on the board in the top of the first inning after Lykins doubled to left field, and Jozey Shimp grounded out, each scoring one run. Jay County Patriots added to their early lead in the top of the second inning when Brenna Ruble singled, scoring one run, Morgan Missicano doubled, scoring two runs, and Lykins singled, scoring one run. Jay County Patriots scored five runs on five hits in the top of the third inning. Ruble tripled, scoring three runs, Lykins doubled, scoring one run, and Mallory Winner singled, scoring one run. Jay County Patriots added seven more runs in the top of the fourth inning on seven hits. Ruble hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Missicano doubled, scoring one run, Lykins homered to right field, scoring two runs, Carley Trinidad tripled, scoring one run, Ava Bice doubled, scoring one run, and Chloe Brown singled, scoring one run. Jay County Patriots scored five runs on six hits in the top of the fifth inning. Lykins homered to center field, scoring three runs, an error scored one run, and Opal Garrett hit into a double play, but one run scored. Trinidad earned the win for Jay County Patriots. The righty surrendered four hits and four runs (two earned) over four innings, striking out four and walking one. Savannah Bowling took the loss for Cowan Varsity Blackhawks. The pitcher went five innings, surrendering 23 runs (20 earned) on 28 hits, striking out two and walking three. Stella Skirvin threw one inning of no-run ball for Jay County Patriots in relief. The right-handed pitcher gave up zero hits, striking out one and walking one. Jay County Patriots accumulated 28 hits in the game. Lykins and Missicano were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected five hits for Jay County Patriots while hitting back-to-back. Winner, Dakota Chowning, Trinidad, Ruble, Bice, and Brown each collected multiple hits for Jay County Patriots. Missicano stole two bases. Bryleigh Hiatt went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Cowan Varsity Blackhawks in hits. Savannah Hall and Candice Matson each drove in one run for Cowan Varsity Blackhawks. Jay County Patriots Walk It Off Against Madison-Grant Varsity Argylls By GameChanger Media Jay County Patriots took Saturday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 12-10 walk-off victory over Madison-Grant Varsity Argylls. Jay County Patriots were down 10-9 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Jozey Shimp homered to right field, scoring three runs. Shimp drove in four runners in the win. The infielder went 3-5 on the day. Jay County Patriots got on the board in the second inning after Brenna Ruble singled, scoring two runs. A double by Carley Holliday gave Madison-Grant Varsity Argylls the lead, 3-2, in the top of the third. Jay County Patriots tied the game in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a double by Ruble, a single by Jaelynn Lykins, and a double by Shimp. In the bottom of the fifth, Jay County Patriots broke up the tie when Zoe Romine hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. Then a sacrifice fly by Lykins followed to extend the lead to 9-6. Madison-Grant Varsity Argylls took the lead in the top of the sixth. Holliday hit a grand slam to right field, to give Madison-Grant Varsity Argylls the leg up, 10-9. Carley Trinidad earned the win for Jay County Patriots. The pitcher allowed three hits and four runs over three innings, striking out two and walking two. McKenna Craig took the loss for Madison-Grant Varsity Argylls. The pitcher went two and two-thirds innings, giving up six runs (three earned) on five hits, striking out one and walking one. Mallory Winner opened the game for Jay County Patriots. The starting pitcher allowed seven hits and six runs over four innings, striking out two and walking two. Olivia Dunham started the game for Madison-Grant Varsity Argylls. The hurler surrendered seven hits and six runs (four earned) over four innings, striking out one and walking one. Jay County Patriots piled up 12 hits in the game. Morgan Missicano and Shimp each collected three hits for Jay County Patriots. Jay County Patriots were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Shimp had the most chances in the field with 10. Madison-Grant Varsity Argylls piled up 10 hits in the game. Holliday drove the middle of the lineup, leading Madison-Grant Varsity Argylls with seven runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 3-for-4 on the day.
