Jay County Varsity Patriots Walk-Off In Nail-Biter Against Heritage By GameChanger Media It came down to the wire on Thursday at Jay County Jr-Sr High School, as Jay County Varsity Patriots grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 11-10, over Heritage. The game was tied at 10 in the bottom of the seventh when Leighton Brown hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. Joseph Geesaman homered in the first and second innings. Geesaman hit two home runs in the victory. Heritage got on the board in the top of the first inning after Stoppenhagen homered to center field, and Lybarger walked, each scoring one run. Jay County Varsity Patriots captured the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the first when Geesaman homered to left field, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run. Jay County Varsity Patriots added four more runs in the bottom of the second inning on four hits. Brown doubled, scoring one run, Wyatt Foster singled, scoring one run, and Geesaman homered to center field, scoring two runs. Heritage tied the game up in the top of the sixth thanks to two singles. Heritage tied the game at seven on a single by Mirelez. Heritage captured the lead, 10-7, in the top of the seventh after Lybarger singled to center field, Rauner singled to center field, and Mirelez doubled to center field, each scoring one run. Jay County Varsity Patriots made the score 11-10 in the bottom of the seventh after Grant Wendel singled, scoring one run, Brady Jetmore singled, scoring two runs, and Brown hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. Zedrian Vazquez began the game for Jay County Varsity Patriots. The right-handed pitcher surrendered three hits and two runs (one earned) over two innings, striking out none and walking two. Rauner started on the mound for Heritage. The starting pitcher allowed 12 hits and 11 runs (four earned) over six and one-third innings, striking out 13 and walking none. Austin Myers and Kade Sommers each appeared in relief for Jay County Varsity Patriots. Jay County Varsity Patriots piled up 13 hits in the game. Brown, Carter Fugiett, Gavin Byrum, Jetmore, and Geesaman each collected two hits for Jay County Varsity Patriots. Jay County Varsity Patriots turned one double play in the game. Heritage amassed 13 hits in the game. Rauner went 3-for-4 at the plate and led the team with four runs batted in. Stoppenhagen, Roe, Lybarger, and Mirelez each collected multiple hits for Heritage. Mirelez led Heritage with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting eight walks for the game.
