Game 1 Jay County Varsity Patriots Secure Win Against Hagerstown Varsity Tigers By GameChanger Media Jay County Varsity Patriots were victorious against Hagerstown Varsity Tigers 6-2 on Saturday at Hagerstown Jr. Sr. High School. Hagerstown Varsity Tigers got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after Ethan Campbell grounded into a fielder's choice, and Anthony Kelley singled down the left field line, each scoring one run. Jay County Varsity Patriots flipped the game on its head in the top of the fifth, scoring six runs on four hits to take the lead, 6-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Carter Fugiett that drove in three. Zedrian Vazquez stepped on the hill first for Jay County Varsity Patriots. The right-handed pitcher gave up four hits and two runs over six innings, striking out seven and walking none. Jayke Troutwine stepped on the mound first for Hagerstown Varsity Tigers. The pitcher gave up six hits and four runs over four and one-third innings, striking out one and walking one. Austin Myers tossed one inning of shutout ball for Jay County Varsity Patriots in relief. The right-handed pitcher surrendered zero hits, striking out none and walking none. Fugiett provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Jay County Varsity Patriots with two runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Wyatt Foster went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Jay County Varsity Patriots in hits. Kelley and Campbell were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Hagerstown Varsity Tigers. Hagerstown Varsity Tigers got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Jaxon Hale singled, scoring two runs, and Zack Logston drew a walk, scoring one run. Hagerstown Varsity Tigers added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Jay County Varsity Patriots committed an error, Logston grounded out, and Graham Vinson grounded into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run. Aiden Phillips pitched three innings in relief for Jay County Varsity Patriots. The reliever allowed one hit and one run (zero earned) while, striking out four and walking one. Austin Myers led things off on the hill for Jay County Varsity Patriots. The right-handed pitcher gave up four hits and five runs (four earned) over two innings, striking out none and walking three. Vinson started on the hill for Hagerstown Varsity Tigers. The pitcher surrendered five hits and two runs over five innings, striking out five and walking one. Carter Fugiett drove the middle of the lineup, leading Jay County Varsity Patriots with two runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-4 on the day.
