Softball Victory Over Elwood Panthers Varsity vs Elwood Community High School (15 - 5) Win Varsity vs Elwood Community High School Jaelynn Lykins’s Clutch Hitting Propels Jay County Patriots To Victory Over Elwood Varsity Panthers By GameChanger Media Jaelynn Lykins drove in four runs on three hits to lead Jay County Patriots past Elwood Varsity Panthers 15-5 on Saturday. Lykins hit a home run to right field in the sixth inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the first inning, scoring one. Jay County Patriots won thanks in part to eight runs in the sixth inning. Brenna Ruble singled, scoring one run, Morgan Missicano singled, scoring one run, Lykins homered to right field, scoring three runs, Opal Garrett singled, scoring two runs, and Zoe Romine singled, scoring one run. A single by Lykins put Jay County Patriots on the board in the bottom of the first. Jay County Patriots scored two runs in the bottom of the second on a home run to center field by Natalie May. Jay County Patriots added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Mallory Winner tripled down the right field line, and Carley Trinidad doubled to right field, each scoring one run. Elwood Varsity Panthers scored two runs in the top of the fifth on a home run to right field by Kelsey Armes. Winner earned the win for Jay County Patriots. The right-handed pitcher allowed eight hits and five runs (four earned) over six innings, striking out four and walking two. Sandy Jordan took the loss for Elwood Varsity Panthers. The starter went five and two-thirds innings, allowing 15 runs (10 earned) on 16 hits, striking out two and walking one. Jay County Patriots amassed 16 hits in the game. Lykins and Ruble each collected three hits for Jay County Patriots. Missicano, Trinidad, and Chloe Brown each collected multiple hits for Jay County Patriots. Ruble stole two bases. Jay County Patriots ran wild on the base paths, tallying four stolen bases for the game. Averi Savage led Elwood Varsity Panthers with four hits in four at bats from the leadoff position. Armes and Savage each drove in two runs for Elwood Varsity Panthers. Sadie Copus collected two hits for Elwood Varsity Panthers in three at bats.
