Powerful Pitching Performance From Zoe McLaughlin Carries Jay County Patriots Jr High Past Elwood Middle School By GameChanger Media Zoe McLaughlin struck out 12 batters as the righty led Jay County Patriots Jr High past Elwood Middle School 10-0 on Thursday. McLaughlin gave up one hit and zero runs over five innings while walking none. Jay County Patriots Jr High opened the scoring in the first after Karsyn Schwieterman grounded out, scoring one run. Jay County Patriots Jr High added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Maddy Taylor singled, Elwood Middle School committed an error, McLaughlin singled to center field, Ava Peterson doubled down the left field line, and Jaylee Twigg singled to center field, each scoring one run. Aubrey N stepped in the circle first for Elwood Middle School. The starting pitcher allowed six hits and six runs (two earned) over two innings, striking out four and walking two. Jay County Patriots Jr High piled up 11 hits in the game. McLaughlin provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Jay County Patriots Jr High with three runs batted in. The number three hitter went 2-for-2 on the day. McLaughlin, Kyla Sims, and Peterson each collected two hits for Jay County Patriots Jr High. Twigg and Schwieterman each stole multiple bases for Jay County Patriots Jr High. Jay County Patriots Jr High stole seven bases in the game. Alivia C led Elwood Middle School with one hit in two at bats. Elwood Middle School turned one double play in the game.
