JC Swim/Dive splits with Bellmont

ay County High School hosted Bellmont High School on January 7, 2025, in an exciting dual swim meet featuring standout individual and team performances. The event saw the Jay County girls’ team clinch victory with a decisive score of 183-100, while the boys' team battled fiercely, finishing just short with a final score of 140-120 in favor of Bellmont.The girls' team shined in numerous events:Sophia Hoevel captured first place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:19.16 and followed up with a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (1:01.83).Brooklynn Byrum won the 200-yard individual medley (2:37.00) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:11.94).Lauren Fisher earned first in the 50-yard freestyle (28.22) and second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:24.78).The girls’ 200-yard freestyle relay team of Hoevel, Fisher, Kaitlyn Fisher, and Byrum claimed first place with a time of 1:57.53, while the 400-yard freestyle relay team finished strong in 4:17.47.For the boys, the competition was equally thrilling:Cooper Glentzer won the 50-yard freestyle (24.33) and the 100-yard freestyle (53.39).Peyton Yowell took first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:08.60) and contributed to the second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:40.90).Matthew Fisher placed first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:09.50.The boys' 200-yard medley relay team placed second, narrowly trailing Bellmont with a time of 2:02.72.Diving events added to the excitement:Madelynn Snow secured first place for the girls with a score of 159.80.Bryden Carter earned second place for the boys with a score of 134.30.
