Volleyball (Girls V/JV) Scores

Varsity volleyball takes 2nd place at the Union County tournament on Saturday defeating Whiteland 15-25; 25-15; 15-4, Union County 25-12; 25-20, and Alexandria 25-15; 25-15 in pool play. They crossed over to play Seton Catholic for the championship losing 25-27; 23-25. Brenna Bailey led behind the service line for the Patriots with 27 points and 3 aces. She also had a team high of 26 digs. Kayla Jetmore added 22 points, Lani Muhlenkamp had 20, and Elizabeth Barnett added 17. Jetmore tallied 21 digs, Paisley Fugiett added 18, Muhlenkamp added 13 and Barnett had 15. Hallie Schwieterman led the Patriots offensively with 26 kills for the day. Maria Hemmelgarn had 22, Mya Kunkler had 16, Barnett had 13, and Brenna Schmiesing had 11. Kunkler had a team high of 10 blocks, Hemmelgarn contributed 8, and Schmiesing added 5. Fugiett totaled 73 assists on the day. Other contributors in the Patriots success on Saturday was Ella Rigby with 10 assists and 4 digs. Lydia Johnson had 1 kill and 1 dig. Carley Trinidad had 3 points, 2 assists, and 5 digs. Heavyn Willoughby added 1 kill and 6 digs. The Patriots end their season 14-12. They will play in the 2nd game of sectional 24 at 11:00 AM on Saturday at New Castle. If they win that match, the championship game will be at 6:00 PM.
