Varsity volleyball lost to South Adams 22-25; 10-25 and Adams Central 17-25; 25-21; 4-15 in pool play at the conference tournament on Saturday. They crossed over to play Bluffton, beating them 25-11; 25-19 to take 5th place. Lani Muhlenkamp and Brenna Bailey led the Patriots behind the service line with 13 points each. Muhlenkamp finished with 4 aces and Bailey had 2. Bailey also had a team high of 29 digs. Paisley Fugiett and Muhlenkamp contributed 14 a piece and Kayla Jetmore added 13 and Liz Barnett 11. Fugiett also finished with 49 assists for the day. Hallie Schwieterman led the Patriots offensively with 16 kills. Maria Hemmelgarn had 15, Brenna Schmiesing added 13 and Mya Kunkler and Barnett each had 7. Hemmelgarn totaled 5 blocks and Kunkler had 4. The Patriots are back in action Tuesday night at home against Southern Wells. This will be their cancer game. Come out and help support the Jay County Cancer society.
