The Heritage Patriots traveled to Jay County on Monday night for a Junior High football game. The 8th grade won 22-15. To start the scoring off, Sawyer Smitley scrambled and ran 65 yards for a touchdown. Carsten Penrod kicked the two points conversion. Smitley ran in the second touchdown from 5 yards out. Penrod kicked the two point conversion. At the end of the game, Smitley threw the ball to Bryce VanSkyock for a 15 yard touchdown. Defensively, Bradie Boniface, Maddix Bright, and Drayton Cavanaugh held down the line with many plays at or behind the line of scrimmage. The 7th grade lost 19-27. Tuck Hemmelgarn scored the first two touchdowns with 5 and 1 yard runs. He also ran in the two point conversions. The next touchdown came on a 50 yard catch and run from Sawyer Hemmelgarn, thrown from Tuck Hemmelgarn. The 7th grade Patriots played tough throuout the night with many fumble recoveries. The Patriots will Host Eastern Hancock on Thursday night. Go Jc!!
