Jay County took on Huntington North this morning at home. The conditions at the start of the game were heavy downpours but we were able to get it going. Huntington was able to score first on a fast break up the center of the field making it 1-0. Then just a short time later Emmitt Reynolds was able to score off an assist from Blake Collins making it 1-1. We then had a lightning strike that sent both teams to the locker rooms. With 24 mins left in the first half. Finally, after 1 hour waiting time, we were able to start the game back up. Huntington was able to score again making it 2-1. Then with 12 seconds left in the half Jacoby Penrod was able to score from an assist from Emmitt Reynolds making it 2-2 at the half. In the 2nd half Huntington was able to score making it 3-2. Jay County picked up a dead ball foul outside the Huntington's goal box and Brody Collins was able to score making it 3-3. Jay County then wouldn't look back. A short time later the ball was deflected, and Brody Collins was able to score again making it 4-3. Then with time running out Emmitt Reynolds was fouled outside Huntington's goal box. Jacoby Penrod was able to sneak a ball past the goalkeeper with only 7 seconds left in the game making it a final 5-3 Jay County. Zavier Hudson record 8 saves in the goal. Jay County starts the opening season 1-0. Next up Jay County will face Muncie Central on Tuesday 8-18-26 @ home.
