Jay County Varsity Patriots Fall To Yorktown Varsity Tigers After Surrendering Big Seventh Inning By GameChanger Media Yorktown Varsity Tigers scored five runs in the seventh inning, which helped them defeat Jay County Varsity Patriots 8-2 on Thursday. Yorktown Varsity Tigers got on the board in the first inning after an error scored one run. Hallie Schwieterman homered to right field, which helped Jay County Varsity Patriots tie the game at one in the bottom of the third. Yorktown Varsity Tigers took the lead in the top of the fifth. Olivia Jaromin hit a solo home run to right field, to give Yorktown Varsity Tigers the advantage, 2-1. Yorktown Varsity Tigers scored five runs on four hits in the top of the seventh inning. Olivia Jones homered to center field, scoring three runs, an error scored one run, and Kaylei Morgan doubled, scoring one run. Jones earned the win for Yorktown Varsity Tigers. The starter gave up six hits and two runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out 15 and walking two. Carley Trinidad took the loss for Jay County Varsity Patriots. The hurler went seven innings, giving up eight runs (four earned) on nine hits, striking out nine and walking three. Ava Peterson and Schwieterman each collected two hits for Jay County Varsity Patriots. Schwieterman went 2-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Jones drove the middle of the lineup, leading Yorktown Varsity Tigers with three runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Tatelynn King, Anna Rinker, and Brooklyn Bartle each collected two hits for Yorktown Varsity Tigers. Yorktown Varsity Tigers didn't commit a single error in the field.
