Kade Sommers Throws Shutout As Jay County Varsity Patriots Defeat Bellmont

By GameChanger Media Kade Sommers didn't allow a single run as defeated Bellmont 3-0 on Thursday at Jay County Jr-Sr High School. Sommers allowed just four hits. Both teams were strong on the bump. Jay County Varsity Patriots pitchers struck out nine, while Bellmont sat down five. A single by Leighton Brown put Jay County Varsity Patriots on the board in the bottom of the first. Jay County Varsity Patriots added one run in the third after Joseph Geesaman grounded out. Bleeke took the loss for Bellmont. The starter went six innings, allowing three runs on six hits, striking out five and walking three. Brown provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Jay County Varsity Patriots with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Carter Fugiett set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Jay County Varsity Patriots with two hits in three at bats. Andrew Schemenaur stole two bases. Jay County Varsity Patriots stole four bases in the game. Springer, Schultz, Bleeke, and Mills each collected one hit for Bellmont.
