PORTLAND — In a closely contested dual match on Thursday, the Jay County High School boys' golf team displayed individual brilliance but couldn't quite bridge the gap against a consistent South Adams squad, falling by a final score of 172–179. Despite the team loss, the story of the afternoon was senior Cody Dehoff. Navigating the course with precision, Dehoff carded a match-low 39, earning the title of Match Medalist. His performance anchored the Patriots and provided a spark at the top of the lineup, proving once again why he is a force to be reckoned with this season. While Dehoff provided the low mark of the day, South Adams countered with a more compact scoring spread. The Starfires managed to keep their scoring quartet in the low 40s, creating a seven-stroke cushion that Jay County couldn't quite overcome. The Patriots’ scoring effort was rounded out by: Goldsworthy, who finished with a solid 45. Dom Bright, who turned in a 47. Sylas Wenk, who provided the final counting score with a 48. Bryan Fields followed closely behind with a 49, highlighting a tight pack for the Patriots' secondary scorers. Beckett Brandenburg shot a 45 and Karson Hines carded a 46. Fields, Hines, and Brandenburg's scores were not included in the final score.
