Jay County Varsity Patriots Roll Past Southern Wells By GameChanger Media Jay County Varsity Patriots won big over Southern Wells 24-1 on Tuesday at TBD. Southern Wells were the first to get on the board in the first when Freimuth drew a walk, scoring one run. Jay County Varsity Patriots flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring six runs on four hits to take the lead, 6-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Leighton Brown that drove in two. Jay County Varsity Patriots extended their early lead with two runs in the bottom of the second thanks to RBI errors by Andrew Schemenaur and Gavin Byrum. Jay County Varsity Patriots scored 10 runs on 10 hits in the bottom of the third inning. Wyatt Foster singled, scoring two runs, Joseph Geesaman tripled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, Schemenaur tripled, scoring one run, Byrum homered to center field, scoring two runs, Garrett Bennett hit a solo home run to center field, and Foster singled, scoring one run. Jay County Varsity Patriots scored six runs on three hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Alex Miller singled, scoring one run, Williams induced Cohen Schimp to hit into a fielder's choice, but two runs scored, Brody Collins singled, scoring one run, Lahr induced Tyler Wasson to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, and Brady Millspaugh singled, scoring one run. Geesaman earned the win for Jay County Varsity Patriots. The righty allowed two hits and one run over three innings, striking out four and walking three. Johnson took the loss for Southern Wells. The hurler went two innings, giving up eight runs (six earned) on five hits, striking out three and walking two. Nick Snow and Schimp each threw shutout innings for Jay County Varsity Patriots in relief. Jay County Varsity Patriots collected 18 hits in the game. Number nine hitter, Brady Jetmore, showed the depth of Jay County Varsity Patriots's lineup, by leading them with three hits in three at bats. Foster and Byrum each drove in three runs for Jay County Varsity Patriots. Brown, Carter Fugiett, and Bennett each collected multiple hits for Jay County Varsity Patriots. Jay County Varsity Patriots turned one double play in the game. Bertsch went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Southern Wells in hits.
