Morgan Missicano’s Big Day Propels Jay County Varsity Patriots Past New Castle By GameChanger Media Morgan Missicano drove in four runs on three hits to lead Jay County Varsity Patriots past New Castle 14-0 on Monday. Missicano doubled in the third scoring two, tripled in the second scoring one, and singled in the fifth scoring one. Jay County Varsity Patriots got on the board in the top of the first inning after Missicano flew out, and Hallie Schwieterman homered to right field, each scoring one run. Jay County Varsity Patriots added to their early lead in the top of the second inning when an error scored two runs, and Missicano tripled, scoring one run. Jay County Varsity Patriots scored five runs on four hits in the top of the third inning. Zoe Mclaughlin singled, scoring one run, Ava Bice singled, scoring one run, Natalie May singled, scoring one run, and Missicano doubled, scoring two runs. Mclaughlin earned the win for Jay County Varsity Patriots. The pitcher surrendered two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out four and walking one. Rangel took the loss for New Castle. The starting pitcher went one and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on six hits, striking out one and walking one. Jay County Varsity Patriots accumulated 15 hits in the game. Mclaughlin and Missicano each collected three hits for Jay County Varsity Patriots. Ava Peterson and Bice each collected multiple hits for Jay County Varsity Patriots. Brenna Ruble stole three bases. Jay County Varsity Patriots were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. May made the most plays with eight. Weeks and #24 each collected one hit for New Castle.
