Jay County Varsity Patriots Breeze Past Eastern Varsity Lady Comets By GameChanger Media Jay County Varsity Patriots won big over Eastern Varsity Lady Comets 14-4 on Saturday. Eastern Varsity Lady Comets got on the board in the first inning after Emillia Andrews hit a solo home run to left field. Jay County Varsity Patriots flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring six runs on five hits to take the lead, 6-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Chloe Brown following a 6-pitch at-bat that drove in three. Jay County Varsity Patriots scored seven runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning. Carley Trinidad doubled, scoring one run, Ava Peterson singled, scoring one run, Zoe Mclaughlin singled, scoring one run, Natalie May grounded out, scoring one run, a dropped third strike scored two runs, and Hallie Schwieterman singled, scoring one run. Andrews homered to left field, scoring three runs in the top of the third for the Eastern Varsity Lady Comets. Jay County Varsity Patriots scored one run in the bottom of the third on a solo home run to left field by Peterson following a 6-pitch at-bat. Mclaughlin earned the win for Jay County Varsity Patriots. The hurler gave up seven hits and four runs over five innings, striking out two and walking none. Paige Wesner took the loss for Eastern Varsity Lady Comets. The starter went one inning, surrendering six runs on five hits, striking out none and walking two. Jay County Varsity Patriots piled up 12 hits in the game. Brown provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Jay County Varsity Patriots with three runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Schwieterman went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Jay County Varsity Patriots in hits. Mclaughlin, Peterson, and Trinidad each collected multiple hits for Jay County Varsity Patriots. Jay County Varsity Patriots were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. May had the most chances in the field with nine. Elle Winger and Andrews each collected two hits for Eastern Varsity Lady Comets.
