By GameChanger Media Jay County Varsity Patriots were victorious against Norwell 10-5 on Tuesday at Jay County Jr-Sr High School. Norwell opened the scoring in the first after Case doubled, scoring one run. Jay County Varsity Patriots jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Joseph Geesaman hit a sacrifice fly, and Andrew Schemenaur singled down the left field line, each scoring one run. In the top of the third inning, Norwell went back into the lead after Jolley singled to the right side of the infield, Kurtz singled to the left side of the infield, Chism grounded into a fielder's choice, and Mohrensmith doubled to right field, each scoring one run. Jay County Varsity Patriots made the score 6-5 in the bottom of the fifth after Schemenaur doubled, scoring one run, Gavin Byrum singled, scoring one run, and Kade Sommers homered to left field, scoring two runs. Geesaman led things off on the hill for Jay County Varsity Patriots. The hurler allowed nine hits and five runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out three and walking two. Krug began the game for Norwell. The starting pitcher allowed six hits and four runs (three earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking three. Jay County Varsity Patriots accumulated 12 hits in the game. Sommers, the number seven hitter for Jay County Varsity Patriots, led the way with two runs batted in. The first baseman went 2-for-4 on the day. Leighton Brown, Carter Fugiett, Schemenaur, and Sommers each collected two hits for Jay County Varsity Patriots. Garrett Bennett paced Jay County Varsity Patriots with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. Schemenaur stole four bases.
