Kade Sommers throws no-hitter in win over Hamilton Heights

By GameChanger Media Joseph Geesaman drove in four runs on two hits to lead Jay County Varsity Patriots past Hamilton Heights 22-0 on Thursday at Jay County Jr-Sr High School. Geesaman hit a home run to left field in the fourth, scoring two, tripled in the first, scoring one, and walked in the third, scoring one. Kade Sommers struck out 11 batters on the day. The starter also allowed zero hits and zero runs over five innings while walking three. Jay County Varsity Patriots got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Geesaman tripled to right field, Andrew Schemenaur singled to left field, and Gavin Byrum walked, each scoring one run. Jay County Varsity Patriots scored 10 runs on three hits in the bottom of the third inning. Leighton Brown singled, scoring one run; an error scored two runs, Brady Jetmore singled, scoring two runs, Geesaman drew a walk, scoring one run, Dahlgton induced Brown to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, Byrum drew a walk, scoring one run, and Sommers singled, scoring two runs. Jay County Varsity Patriots scored nine runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Wyatt Foster singled, scoring two runs; Geesaman homered to left field, scoring two runs; Sommers singled, scoring two runs; and Carter Fugiett homered to left field, scoring three runs. Pitts took the loss for Hamilton Heights. The hurler went two and one-third innings, allowing 10 runs (eight earned) on four hits, striking out six and walking five. Jay County Varsity Patriots collected nine hits in the game. Geesaman and Sommers each collected two hits for Jay County Varsity Patriots. Jay County Varsity Patriots had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating 12 walks for the game. Schemenaur and Byrum led the team with three bases on balls each. Brown and Schemenaur each stole multiple bases for Jay County Varsity Patriots. Jay County Varsity Patriots ran wild on the base paths, piling up eight stolen bases for the game. The Jay County Varsity Patriots were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Schemenaur made the most plays with 12.
