Jay County swimmers and divers showed depth, grit, and steady improvement throughout Tuesday night’s meet against Delta, with several under-the-radar performances playing a key role in keeping races competitive across the lineup. On the girls side, Gabrielle Gibson had a strong all-around evening, earning points in both the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle while anchoring relay efforts late in the meet. Avery Wentz delivered a solid backstroke swim, placing second in the 100 backstroke and contributing in multiple relays. Sophia Hoevel stepped up in the distance events, scoring points in the 500 freestyle and racing again in the butterfly and relays, showing endurance and consistency. Ariel Beiswanger added valuable points in the 200 IM and was part of the A relay squads, while Alyvia Muhlenkamp took on challenging events including the 500 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay, gaining important varsity experience. In diving, Gillian Keller represented Jay County well, finishing third on the 1-meter board and adding points that often go unnoticed but matter greatly in team scoring. For the boys, Grayson Swoveland quietly put together one of the most demanding nights of the meet, tackling the 500 freestyle, backstroke, and relays while earning points in the 500. Max Klopfenstein battled through both the 200 IM and 500 freestyle and anchored relay legs late in the meet. Elias Mueller contributed in sprints, backstroke, and relays, while Kamdyn Carter raced across multiple relays and individual events, providing lineup flexibility. David Keen showed determination in both the 200 and 500 freestyle, picking up points and helping stabilize the distance group. Arman Solis and Nhaili Mouadh also stepped up to fill relay roles, gaining valuable varsity experience in pressure situations. Overall, while the scorelines favored Delta, Jay County’s depth swimmers and divers played a major role in keeping races competitive, building momentum, and gaining experience that will pay dividends as the season continues.
