JC Swim and Dive earns double W over Anderson High School

The Jay County Patriots turned in a dominant performance Thursday night against Anderson, winning decisively on both the girls’ and boys’ sides. The Patriots won 255–91 combined, with the girls taking a 141–30 victory and the boys securing a 114–61 win. Jay County opened the meet strong, sweeping the 200 IM, 100 Fly, 100 Back, and 100 Breast on the girls’ side. Elly Byrum led the way with wins in both the 200 Free and 100 Back, while Brooklynn Byrum added wins in the 200 IM and 100 Free. Maria Laux continued her sprint and breaststroke success, winning the 50 Free and the 100 Breast. On the boys’ side, the Patriots’ depth was on full display as they took first in nearly every event except the sprints. Strong swims came from Grady Warvel, who won the 200 Free and 100 Fly, and Carson Westgerdes, who captured victories in the 200 IM and 100 Breast. The boys also swept diving, with Bryden Carter earning first place. Jay County also controlled the relays, winning the Girls 200 Free Relay, Girls 400 Free Relay, Boys 200 Medley Relay, and Boys 400 Free Relay. The Patriots return to action on Saturday as they continue building momentum heading into mid-season competition.
