|The Jay County Girls Track team beat #16 Bellmont and Adams Central in a close home meet on Thursday. The Patriots (4-0) picked up the 2 point victory over the Braves with a score of Jay County 73, Bellmont 71, and Adams Central 10.
Individual winning efforts for the Patriots included Malarie Houck (300M Hurdles),Ciera Barcus (High Jump), and Tasya Smith (100M),
A pair of winning relay efforts from the Patriots helped propel the Partiots to victory with wins in the 4X800 relay (Abbi Dunlavy, Erika Kunkler, Sydney Mathias, Abigail Johnson). and 4X100 Relay (Emma Laux, Taylor Homan, Lexie Myers, and Tasya Smith). Malarie Houck, Morgan Brown, Lexie Myers, and Amber Huelskamp finished in the runner up position in the 1600M relay.
Strong efforts in the throwing events by McKensie Muhlenkamp (2nd Place – Discus), Hannah Lykins (2nd – Shot Put and 3rd – Discus), and Rebekah Corwin (4th Place – Shot Put) kept the Patriots within striking distance of Bellmont through the field events. Second place finishes by Emma Laux (100M Dash), Ciera Barcus (Long Jump), Britlyn Dues (300M Hurdles), Malarie Houck (100M Hurdles), Abigail Johnson (800M), and Amber Huelskamp (400M) proved to be pivotal in the team victory.
The Patriots will next be in action at home against Richmond on Tuesday.
